I would pick 607 because the others can simply be attributed to imperfect men. But 607 is of vital importance to JW doctrines. If 607 is wrong, then so is 1914, and 1914 is the foundation upon which the entire religion is built. It is the basis for their claiming they have the truth. They are the only ones who recognized that Christ returned in 1914, and are therefore the only ones preaching about it. On this basis, Christ has appointed the WTBTS as the faithful and discreet slave. If you can prove the fallacy of 607, you can cause them to question all these other things.

You chance to be heard!
by pratt1 inhere's the scenrio:.
you have the captive audience of all the witlesses that you have associated with and loved in the past (including family members) but now shun you, for 5 minutes.. you most chose one and only one topic to proved that their religion is false and not based on love.. 1. who would you pick to be part of this audience?.
2. what topic would you choose to discuss?

What did Witnesses think of the movie "Gremlins"?
by truthsearcher injust been watching the movie gremlins, and wondering what the witnesses thought of it, given the demonic like beings that those cute little gizmos turned into?

I think anything that requires the least bit of imagination is viewed as demonic by them. I never thought of demons when I watched it either.

Did a householder ever ruin your day of service?
by moshe ini remember one lady i spoke to at the door about 25 years ago that really bummed me out.
she was polite and listened to my canned wt message and then she asked me a simple question.
" are you happy being a jw?

The last time I auxilary pioneered, we were working in a trailer park (a depressing prospect in itself). But I was having a fairly good morning. I had just placed magazines at the last house, when a man who was walking by told me to "get a job instead of pestering people". I had encountered people like this in the ministry many times before, but for some reason this stuck with me. It was the first time that it really dawned on me how much of an annoyance we really were to people, that even the ones who listened and took the magazines didn't really want us at their door. I didn't like service to begin with, but from that point on it was such a challenge to even get myself to go out. I was already having doubts about the organization, so shortly after that I stopped going out altogether.

real questions from the readers

but, sometimes, it's just to easy.
missanna was sent a watchtower from her "loving".

The Bible does not rule out a Christian's consuming coffee, tea, chocolate, maté, and sodas that contain caffeine.
That's all they really need to say on the matter.

Another not-so-subtle reminder of why I don't go to meetings anymore. Still trying to exercise control over you, even after you stop attending meetings.

"Becoming as little children" - how does that jive with the WTS?
by lawrence inexcept you be converted and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of god," -- how does that jive with the wts plethora of books, judgements & rulings, questions and more questions, interrogations, prophesy revisions and citations, lawyers, and proclamations?

It jives quite well. Little children ask questions, but they can easily be satisfied with the most simplistic answers. This is what the WTS is after, childlike obedience.

Did You EVER Enjoy Going To Meetings Or Out In Service?
by minimus ini can say that i don't thinki ever really looked forward to going to a 2 hour meeting or a 2 hour ride around in the "ministry.

I did look forward to the conventions, especially when I was younger. The only thing I liked about the meetings was lunch or get-togethers afterwards. There was absolutely nothing I enjoyed about the ministry. Even now, the thought of going to one more door makes me cringe. I had to take a second job delivering pizzas, and every time I knock or ring the doorbell I get chills up and down my spine. I get flashbacks similar to what Vietnam vets experience. lol

THE WTS: CRASH OR SLOWLY FADE AWAY?
by Seeker4 ini was just reading the thread about barbara anderson and perhaps some big news she will publish about the wts.
i agree with those who say that anything barbara has scandalous about the early history of the witnesses, ie: russel or rutherford times, will have zero impact.
that whole era is pretty much dismissed by all witnesses i know.

The problem isn't that the average JW simply doesn't know the truth. The problem is they don't want to know. Anything that undermines their belief system, they will dismiss as apostate propaganda. The UN scandal and pedophile cases were both reported on by credible news sources, and they had very little impact. Anything that comes out by an ex-member will be dismissed as lies, because that's what they are trained to do. There will always be a significant number who will accept whatever the WTS tells them.

found website that supports WTBTS..
by new_account ini was doing an image search on google and found a link to a website that appears to fully support the watchtower org.
[ http://www.jehovah-god.org/ ] .
interesting thing to me is the pictures that it shows, some i have never seen in offical literature, yet they look like they couldve have been ones made but not used, or something i dont know.. and others that resemble images from books such as the revelation book... (the city, pearls etc).
